Report: FEMA Aid Waste, Fraud, and Abuse Report

On June, 14, 2006, The Spokesman-Review carried an Associated Press story headlined FEMA aid fraud discovered. The wire service story was based on US Government Accountability Office testimony before the House Subcommittee on Investigations, Committee on Homeland Security.

Here's a link to the entire 30-page testimony entitled Hurricanes Katrina and Rita Disaster Relief - Improper and Potentially Fraudulent Invididual Assistance Payments Estimated to Be Between $600 Million and 1.4 Billion.

When an emergency situation created by natural disaster and with the magnitude of damamge such as that of Hurricane Katrina strikes... I can forgive... no applaud the lack of verifying every single detail of every single applicant who applied for assistance from the people of the united states of America.

What I found even more shocking here is the shear number of thieves that crawled out from under thier rocks to claim *entitlement* to the FREE GOVERNMENT MONEY.

I hope that we can afford to house each and every one of them for another five to seven years, while doing hard labor.
